General Information

WARNING: The Loxahatchee River District encourages everyone to be extremely cautious and avoid contact with the venomous spines of the lionfish. Usually, lionfish are not aggressive toward humans and will almost always keep their distance when given the opportunity, so they pose a relatively low risk. While their stings are not typically deadly, they are extremely painful.

Instructions: If you have sighted a lionfish in the Loxahatchee River please complete the form below. The Loxahatchee River District will use this information to create database of lionfish sightings. This reporting will facilitate lionfish research by our colleagues at Florida International University. We will share this information with other agencies and organization tracking lionfish. Please send an email lionfish@loxahatcheeriver.org for further assistance.
