Jupiter, Florida -- More than 50 Girl Scouts recently visited the River Center to earn their "Save Water" badge as part of the Wonders of Water program. The event was organized by the River Center, Friends of the Loxahatchee River member Laura Kerr and the Society of Women Engineers. The scouts completed a water obstacle course, learned about the history of the Loxahatchee River, and removed 75 pounds of trash. They worked together to clean up Burt Reynolds Park and the ground of the River Center. That same day, volunteers from the community participated in a clean-up event to beautify Blowing Rocks Preserve and the Intracoastal Waterway as part of the Great American Cleanup. Braving the day's inclement weather, they collected more than 250 pounds of trash, including scrap metal, laundry baskets, and shoes!
