The River Center traces the Loxahatchee River from its headwaters in Palm Beach County, through the cypress dominated floodplain in the Wild & Scenic segment, into the central embayment, and finally out through Jupiter Inlet into the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream.

Friends of the Loxahatchee

In 1995, the Loxahatchee River District founded the non-profit group, Friends of the Loxahatchee River, to provide a unique way for local citizens to learn more about the river and its ecosystems. Friends' mission is three-fold: to encourage public involvement in river preservation efforts, to offer environmental educational opportunities and to support aquatic research efforts.
